Communion
NTC Ballynahinch Youth Weekend – Sunday 09/08/12

Luke 22:19-20 / 1 Corinthians 11:23-25

Notice here how simple the request is… “Remember me” – Jesus asks them simply one thing… To remember! Jesus knows all things, from the beginning to the end and he knew the hearts of the disciples, He knows our hearts… And His heart, the night before He was crucified said … “Remember me” – Remember this body broken and this blood shed. – Isn’t it true that we so quickly forget Him!! James 1:23-24. We hear the request, the command to remember Him but we so quickly forget… We forget Him, His love, His provision, His sacrifice… Psalm 103:2-4 The psalmist goes on to list so many wonderful things that truly… we forget! To our own detriment! Matthew 14:29-30 – How quickly…

… So let’s spend some time remembering Him! Continue reading “Communion”

Love Is Holiness

I want to speak today about love. The Lord gave me this message even before He led Jeff to ask me to speak. I know in my heart that this is God’s word for you. I know he’s led me to this and it is Him who has brought you here this morning. So then a responsibility lies with you, as it does at every meeting. A responsibility and a wonderful opportunity! Do you want to hear from God this morning? Do you want God to quicken your heart, change you, teach you…? Let’s pray and all of you pray with me that God would move this morning. Anything He does won’t be because I have any wise words or smart thoughts. I know my delivery won’t be great and my message could be clearer and more stirring… but I trust and depend only on the Holy Spirit to use me as a channel and to bless you as you desire him and yield to Him. Let’s Pray… Continue reading “Love Is Holiness”

From Death to Life.

If you are reading this now, you exist. You’ve been brought up, you’ve eaten, you’ve drank, you’ve matured and grown… You have life! You did not ask for it. You could not ask for it. You did nothing to earn it or deserve it, you simply received it and here you are! Life was given to you freely. It’s not to be wasted or regarded lightly. It is precious and to be studied, explored and experienced!

But the bible says in John 3 that we must born again! Again??

John 3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

So… There needs to be another birth. A new life. A birthing of a new spiritual being. A spiritual child. Completely newborn, helpless by it’s own account, fragile, weak, beautiful… The picture is very much what we can imagine. Exactly the same principals apply to this spiritual life as the physical. This child must be brought up, it must eat, drink, mature and grow… It has life! It did not ask for it. It could not ask for it. It did nothing to earn it or deserve it, it simply received it! Life was freely given to it. It’s not to be wasted or regarded lightly. It is precious and to be studied and experienced! Continue reading “From Death to Life.”
