God Lives In Me!

This is no small claim. I’ll be honest, I sometimes doubt that He lives in me at all. I mean consider the implications of such a claim: That God, almighty, all powerful, the creator God, infinite in wisdom and power, the source of all life, truth and love… He lives in me? I’ll tell you this, if that’s a truth then my life will look vastly different!

I am sure of this though, He wants to… Continue reading “God Lives In Me!”

A House Worth Building

Haggai 1
5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

The Reason For Being

All of creation was spoken for this one purpose, to glorify God. He gave the ocean its boundaries and it obeys Him; He told the stars where to shine and they steadfastly obey Him; He told the mountains where to rise and they obey till this day; He told the sun, the moon and all the planets to map their courses and they consistently obey his voice, He tells the wind where to blow and it unquestioningly obeys…

He turns to us and with unconditional, self-denying love He says “Come.” and we say “NO!” Continue reading “The Reason For Being”

My Jesus, I love thee.

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Saviour art Thou;
If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love Thee because Thou has first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree.
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

Oh, what a wonderful and precious Saviour. You are my life.

From Death to Life.

If you are reading this now, you exist. You’ve been brought up, you’ve eaten, you’ve drank, you’ve matured and grown… You have life! You did not ask for it. You could not ask for it. You did nothing to earn it or deserve it, you simply received it and here you are! Life was given to you freely. It’s not to be wasted or regarded lightly. It is precious and to be studied, explored and experienced!

But the bible says in John 3 that we must born again! Again??

John 3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

So… There needs to be another birth. A new life. A birthing of a new spiritual being. A spiritual child. Completely newborn, helpless by it’s own account, fragile, weak, beautiful… The picture is very much what we can imagine. Exactly the same principals apply to this spiritual life as the physical. This child must be brought up, it must eat, drink, mature and grow… It has life! It did not ask for it. It could not ask for it. It did nothing to earn it or deserve it, it simply received it! Life was freely given to it. It’s not to be wasted or regarded lightly. It is precious and to be studied and experienced! Continue reading “From Death to Life.”
