Genesis 3:9 – Where Are You?

Genesis 3:9
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

“Where art thou?” – Consider the heart that asks this question… It is a question with desire for the one He asking for, it is with concern, with interest, with love, affection, compassion… It is the call of a lover looking for His love. He desires to commune with His love, to simply be with His love and enjoy their presence… It is a call that says ‘come to me’; ‘present yourself to me’; let me see you and love you’.

“the Lord God called to Adam” – It was a peronal call. It’s an intimate call. One on one. From one heart to another. A singular interest, a singular love and desire.

1 Corinthians 11

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

In remembrance of Him! We do well to remember Him, and how quickly we do terribly when we forget Him. I am born again only 3 and a half years but I have come to know how very precious it is to remember Him. To consider and to meditate on Him. It is a tender-loving mercy that Jesus instituted this table. I can see now how surely I would have fallen if we did not remember Him regularly. Not for the benefit of His self-worth or pride, as if He needed our sympathy… But how lovingly and mercifully Jesus knew we desperately needed to be instructed to remember Him. – How clearly He knows the consequences of a people/person who forgets.

Deuteronomy 7:6 (KJV) For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

Deuteronomy 7:6 (Paraphrase) You are holy unto the Lord. He has set you apart from everything unto Himself. The Lord your God has chosen you to be special treasure unto Him above all people of the earth. – #selah

Genesis 12:1-5 “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.”

Abraham walked with the Lord so closely! His love for the Lord produced the faith he had in the Lord. Everything good is produced from love! God IS love!!! It was God’s act of love toward us to give His One and Only Son for us on the cross, Jesus’ act of love to die blameless on the cross for us, and the Holy Spirit’s act of love to draw each one of us to repentance and help us walk in the power and victory of the cross. To pray for faith is to pray for love. That’s what was wrong with the Pharisees, they had not love for God or the people. Their works were dead because they were done without love (1 Cor. 13). Sin is produced from a lack of love. If you have idols in your life, it’s from a lack of love for the Father. If you don’t treat your neighbor better than yourself it’s from a lack of love for the Lord and that person. Adultry, fornication, pride, envy, murder, selfishness, stealing, and fear are all from a lack of love and ultimately a lack of allowing the fullness of the life of Christ to live in and through you and me.
