Deuteronomy 7:6 (KJV) For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 7:6 (Paraphrase) You are holy unto the Lord. He has set you apart from everything unto Himself. The Lord your God has chosen you to be special treasure unto Him above all people of the earth. – #selah
He has set me apart from: Wasted time on the internet, worries of jobs & income, concerns for future, desires for wife and family, fears of failure and regret, sin and sinful conversation/company!
I am set apart. Holy, unto God. To Him! He has set me apart. It is His will. It is His pleasure. – He has separated me from the world. This flesh desires the world and its pleasures but God has set me free from it. I am not bound by the pleasure of this world. I have been redeemed. I have been bought out and I am being brought out! I am a child of God. I have been born again. I have the life of Christ within me. It is He who sustains me, keeps me and He is my only source of hope and peace. It is only He who satisfies me. Only the Lord Jesus Christ. His Holy Spirit draws me from the world, continually points me to Jesus. Setting me apart to Him. As a lover is set apart to her spouse so I am being set apart to Jesus, “The Bridegroom”. In love He has chosen me, in love! … In His complete and willing denial of self for my good… In that, he chose me!
He has chosen me! He has chosen me! He saw not what I was but He saw what He could make me. In sin, iniquity, pride, lust, covetousness, bitterness… yet this perfect, righteous, holy God… Chose me!! This is love! Not only has he chosen to save me, redeem me and set me free… He considers me His special treasure!
God almighty considers me a special treasure. The special treasure that no one else sees. The treasure that you keep for yourself. The treasure that is most precious to you. “Unto Him” – Separated from the dross, decay, wickedness, bondage, fear, envy… valued, loved, blessed, treasured! Unto Him!! Him who is above all things. He is above all things because He made all things. The creator and maintainer God wants me! The sinless perfection, the righteous judge, the source of all life… desires me. “unto Him” – Unto the most powerful being! Unto power itself. Unto love! He is Love!! Unto Him! Unto the source of all that is good, all that is life and all that pertains to life!! Unto my loving heavenly father, unto a good shepherd, unto a sure place, a place of refuge, unto my shield and my buckler, my defense and my victory – unto the victor of all…
“Above all people” – Above everything in creation… Above all people is/are the ones He has set apart, chosen, treasured! Above all other people of earth… is me! He values me above any other people. He values His chosen ones above all!!

How ignorant I am of reality. How quickly I read over verses of profound, monumental truth. How quickly I forget. How incredibly little I seem to care… Oh how incredibly ignorant I am… Have I lost all sense of reality? All sense of truth? Much time is needed to meditate on this! I must consider Him! I must remember Him! How can I not treasure Him?? Why do I not ‘keep my soul diligently’?? Why do I not keep myself for Him? Why don’t I love Him?
