Who Will God Turn Away?

Being “Christian” does not guarantee your entrance to Heaven. Believing that Jesus is alive and that He is the creator of all things does not make Him your Lord. Confessing that you are a sinner and need His blood to wash you clean does not mean you are one of His redeemed people… On that judgement day it’s clear that He will turn away more people than we seem to think…

Matthew 7

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

It’s incredible to think that the above people prophesied, cast out devils and did wonderful works. Consider the type of person that could do these things, they are Christians! They are doing all these things in Jesus name, for His glory, to establish His Kingdom. They are church goers, church leaders, men and women who have sacrificed their lives for Jesus name. In our ignorant opinion they will be the spiritually elite, the heroes and the champions of our faith.

They did many wonderful things but neglected the one needful thing, they were not obedient to the Heavenly father. On that day they shall say “Lord, Lord” but He was never their Lord in life! They never waited on Him to hear His instruction, they never prayerfully searched the word, longing for the Spirit’s leading and revelation, they never sought fervently to do His will.

God never knew them. Oh I must admit how much I pray ‘Lord, please know me. Lord, may I know you.’ It is a common and persistent prayer of mine. We were created to glorify Him. Our life is for His service. It is clear from the passage that all those who did not live in obedience to the will of God were turned away. They did many things for Him and they did all things by Him but they did not obey Him.

Oh may we cry out for the mercy of God and wait on Him!

  1. My brother across the water, your post is a necessary read. You have captured the essence of the Gospel of the Kingdom–not that we “pray a prayer” one time that seals it always, but that we live out of His Life, live under His reign, and rely solely upon His grace to empower us to live a life that is not our own.

    God bless you.

    Keep encouraging His Church.
