It is possible to know God and every provision has been made for the person who wants to. This being the case, please tell me why on earth you don’t take the opportunity!! And why do some think they know enough??
The Treasure
Hosea 6
1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
Philippians 3
8 … I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
…
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.
God has promised us in His word “you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.” There can be nothing greater in life! What could possibly be more than to know the very creator and maintainer of all life? I know that there is nothing more. I know that everything else is dung! He is the greatest experience, the greatest joy, the greatest need this world will ever know!
He created us to be with Him. He died so that we could be with Him. He lives so that we can be with Him! My God desires to be with me. I’ll spend the rest of my life in awe of that fact! He knows my thoughts and my heart and He still loves me!
What makes a man/woman think that they know enough of God? Why do we stop searching? Why do we make it so complicated?
Hebrews 12
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
The promise is sure and it is great but so is the cost. We must seek Him with everything. It’s all or nothing. It may seem that you lose all joy, all pleasure, all family and friends and comforts but… to know God!!! Think about it… To know Him and be with Him… To have Him as your provider and friend… What could be more than this?? Please comment with suggestions…
There are many teachers and pastors out there with different messages, different opinions and different interpretations but the simple truth is this: If you seek Him with everything that is within you then you will find Him and if you seek His truth more than anything else in life then He will lead you to it. IF He is your shepherd then He will lead you and guide you on the way that you should go. BUT He is only a shepherd to those who have left all in their life for the sake of knowing Him! All people, all possessions, all desires and plans… Jesus, Jesus only!
The Turn
There must be a turning. To “lay aside every weight, and the sin” means to give your life over to Christ. It means to repent of living life to please and suit yourself. It means that you die to the notion of satisfying yourself and life purely for the joy and pleasure of the creator God. When the author wrote “I count all things but loss” he meant that everything in his life was “dung” compared to finding Jesus and honouring Him. That means family, friends, ambitions, hobbies, careers, houses, land, money…etc. That is what is required of us, that is what it means to search “with all your heart”.
Luke 14
25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
…
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
This is not a complicated message. If anyone reading this doesn’t understand it then I will be glad to explain but really, it just means seek God and leave everything!
The Transformation
A man or woman who chooses to make such a step in life will seem radically different!! There will be a hunger and a desire for God and for truth that others will not understand. To Christians they will seem legalistic and to the world they will seem religious! But there is more to life than going to church! There is more to life than bible studies and church membership! We have the opportunity to know GOD!
Reader, God’s promises are true. When you will surrender your life to Him for His glory then you will find a rest and a joy that nothing else can give. He will lead you and direct you towards Himself. You will find him. You will know Him!
