What Do People Think Of Christ?

Galations 5
19
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law

“against such there is is no law” – There is no law against these things. There will be be no law against these things. When Christ was on the earth His message was offensive to an established church, the world(gentiles) on the other hand, flocked to hear him…What is Christ’s testimony today? What do people think of our Saviour today? Do they see Him living among them through the lives of His followers? Do they see and hear of His glory? Do they see a love for His person, for His people?

If the world knew Christ, would they deny Him the chance to foster children? Would they sack Jesus for not agreeing with their beliefs? Would they call Him homophobic? If they saw His willing and complete denial of self to serve sinners (like me) would they still take offense at His hate of sin? If the world truly had the love of Christ portrayed to them would they hate it? Does the world understand that God hates sin because it causes hurt, pain, suffering and seperation from himself?…

If we were to be walking in the spirit, obeying the will of the father then our lives would simply exude these traits of “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance”. Surely this would be Christlike. Surely to walk in the the spirit of the living God is to walk as Christ walks, to speak as Christ speaks… To exemplify Christ! There is no law against these things. To be loved, accepted, cared for and served is what any human would appreciate.

So here is the crux… To ask “What Do People Think Of Christ?” is to ask “What do people think of me?” There is no fear of God in the world because there is no fear of God in the church. There is a warped view of Christ and His love in the world because there is a warped view of Christ in the church! Brothers and sisters, as individuals, we must strive to know the encompassing of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of the one, true, living God. To know His truth! Why? For the glory and honour of God! To see His name glorified as it should be! To see the reverential fear of God instilled into the nation.

As an individual before God do you seek to know Him and serve Him? Do you seek and strive to be Christlike? You should you know! If you are truly born again, this should be your one aim and desire above all else. To know your Saviour and have Him know you. What image do you give of Christ? What does a wicked, hopeless world see of Christ through you? There is no law against Christlikeness. In fact, I dare to say that the strongest opposition you will find will come from the established church.

  1. Matthew, You ask “Does the world understand that God hates sin because it causes hurt, pain, suffering and seperation from himself?” I don’t think that it does. But unless a person understands this truth they will not understand their need for Christ to save them and the power of the Holy Spirit to change them into a person that does not want to sin because they don’t want to be separated from God. This is a great post with a hard truth that many in the country clubs we call churches don’t think they want or need to hear. Peace, Linda
